Workshop for belly dancing

Arabic culture is known to be one of the richest in belly dance. It’s considered to be a social dance and a folk art.

Oriental music as a combination of various instruments and sometimes vocals accompanied by the sound of coins on the costumes, makes it extravagantly artistic.

We thought if women in the refugee camp “Vinojug” in Gevgelija could not attend belly dance outside of the borders of the camp, we can bring the dance to them!

They were enthusiastic and couldn’t wait to do a belly dance workshop together with our volunteers. First, we made costumes ourselves- we used scarfs and sewed coins on them, and later we brought oriental music and started dancing. It was a great convergence of skills and fun between women at the camp and our volunteers. Who needs to know languages, when music connects people?
