Civil Society for European Integration

More than 20 representatives from CSOs working on different topics in Macedonia had the opportunity to be part of a study visit in Brussels, organized in the framework of the project “Civil Society for European Integration” of the Center for Intercultural Dialogue, the Macedonian Green Center and the European Project Association.

LEGIS took part in the study visit and met with representatives from various international organizations to discuss the current situation concerning refugees and migration, as well as possibilities for future cooperation. Beside this, LEGIS and other CSOs representatives visited the European Commission and the European Parliament. During the visit to the European Commission, they had the opportunity to meet and discuss with representatives from the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) and representatives from the Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO). During the visit of the European Parliament they met and discussed with MEPs directly involved in the negotiations with the Macedonian political leaders, Ivo Vajgl, Eduard Kuken and Richard Howit, on three topics, one of them about the response in the current refugee crisis in Macedonia.

The aim of the study visit was to support the Macedonian CSOs and improve their sustainability, autonomy and strengthen the capacities in networking and building strong and sustainable partnerships with European CSOs and Institutions.
