On Thursday, 23.06.2022, at Hotel DoubleTree by Hilton, Skopje, Legis and partner organizations from Serbia (Asylum Protection Center) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (International Forum of Solidarity – EMMAUS) held a Regional conference – “COVID-19 Challenges within the Migrant and Refugee Response in the Western Balkans”, presenting the findings of the Comparative analysis (see link below).
The Conference was opened by Mersiha Smailovic, President of Legis, followed by: Minister Jovanka Trencevska, Ministry of labor and social welfare and Magdalena Nestorovska, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of North Macedonia.
The regional research team of experts present the finding of the Comparative analysis based on 3 indebt country reports previously published within the scope of the project activities. The research team also presented similar problems and positive experience in providing access to health rights for refugees and migrants on the Western Balkan Route.
Present and part of the discussion on the conference were representatives from relevant State institutions such as: Center for crisis management, Department for border control, Center for reception of asylum seekers and other departments within the Ministry of labor and social welfare; International and local non-governmental organizations working directly with refugee and migrant population and representatives from the Embassy of Hungary.
